Privacy policy
The short version
- Your scores, streaks and settings are saved on your phone, not on our servers.
- We use Google Firebase to see which games get played and to catch crashes. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy.
- No ads, no in-app purchases, no account to create. We don't sell your data.
- Leaderboards and achievements run through Google Play Games, under Google's privacy policy.
Who we are
Mentrick is made by Rayen Sbai, an independent developer. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the developer, and "the app" means Mentrick for Android (Google Play package org.sectiontn.mindreader). If you have a question about your privacy, email business.sectiontn@gmail.com.
What stays on your phone
Your personal bests, play history, streaks and settings (theme, language, sound, vibration and app icon) are stored only on your device. We never receive them. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes them. If Android backup is turned on, your phone may include this data in your own Google account backup, which we can't access.
The app never asks you to type in your name or anyone else's. Forehead uses your phone's motion sensor to notice when you tilt the phone. Those readings are used on the device while you play and are never stored or sent anywhere.
What we collect, and why
The app uses three Google Firebase services. None of them collects your name, email address or phone number.
Analytics
GOOGLE ANALYTICS FOR FIREBASE- WHAT
- Which games you play, how long each round lasts, your score, and which settings you change. Firebase also records app opens and screen views, your device model, Android version, app version and language, an app-instance ID, and a rough location (country or region) worked out from your IP address.
- WHY
- To learn which games people enjoy and which ones need work.
- KEPT
- Up to 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- OFF
- Use the Share usage data switch in Settings → Privacy. Turning it off stops all analytics collection, including the events Firebase records automatically.
Crash reports
FIREBASE CRASHLYTICS- WHAT
- When the app crashes: what went wrong in the code, your device model, Android version, app version and an installation ID.
- WHY
- To find and fix bugs.
- KEPT
- 90 days.
- OFF
- The same switch turns crash reports off.
Performance
FIREBASE PERFORMANCE MONITORING- WHAT
- How long the app takes to start and draw screens, and how long network requests take, with your device model, Android version, app version and country (worked out from your IP address).
- WHY
- To keep the app fast on every phone.
- KEPT
- A limited time, then deleted automatically by Google.
- OFF
- The same switch turns performance monitoring off.
We don't show ads, and the app doesn't read your device's advertising ID.
Google Play Games
If you're signed in to Google Play Games on your phone, the app uses it to post your scores to leaderboards and unlock achievements. For that, Google shares your Play Games profile (gamer name and avatar) with the app. Google handles this data under the Google Privacy Policy, and you can manage your profile and who sees it in the Google Play Games app.
From time to time the app may show Google Play's built-in review prompt. Ratings and reviews go to Google Play. We don't receive them through the app.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: to send analytics, crash reports and Play Games data.
- Vibration: for haptic feedback during games.
- Wake lock and install referrer: Firebase uses these to finish sending data in the background and to see which link or campaign led to the install.
That's the full list. The app doesn't ask for your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or location.
What we don't do
We don't show ads, sell in-app purchases or ask you to create an account. We don't sell or rent your data, share it with data brokers, or use it to profile you for advertising.
Who processes your data
Firebase and Google Play Games are run by Google LLC, which processes this data on our behalf. Google may store it on servers outside your country, protected by Google's data processing terms. We don't share your data with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Children
Mentrick isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has used the app and you want their analytics data deleted, email us.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off analytics, crash reports and performance data in Settings → Privacy at any time.
- Delete everything stored on your phone by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
- Ask us to access or delete analytics data linked to your device. Email us and we'll reply within 30 days.
We process analytics, crash and performance data because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the app working and making it better. Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and California, you may have further rights, such as objecting to this processing or complaining to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change affects what data the app collects, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
